BORN AGAIN!

READING:  John 3: 1-6                    English - Valerie   Chinese - Cindy

You Must Be Born Again
1  Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2  This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him."
3  Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
4  Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"
5  Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

COMMENTARY                         - Elizabeth

Nicodemus is a very powerful man.  He is also a Pharisee.  He holds a very high position and is highly respected by his people. Because of his high position, he dare not meet Jesus during the day.  It was at night that he met Jesus to find out the way to eternal life.  He knew that Jesus must have come from God, because of the miracles he had performed.

Jesus told Nicodemus, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."  Nicodemus took it to mean literally that's why he answered back, "Can a man enter into his mother's womb and be born again a second time?"

Jesus meant the spiritual birth.  Unless we confess that we are sinners, accept Him as our Lord and Saviour, be baptised and let Him rule over us, we cannot see His Kingdom.

Jesus stated very clearly, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life."

"For God sent not the Son into the world to judge the world; but that the world should be saved through him."

Let us acknowledge Christ as our Lord and Saviour and allow Him to enter our hearts and to rule over our lives.

PRAYER
Lord, thank you for your Son Jesus Christ, who came into this world for our sake.  He died on the cross for our sins. He has risen and is sitting at the right hand of God our Father Almighty.
In Jesus' Name we pray A-men.
